Biography  Dr. Paterson is currently a Professor and Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Chronic Illness at the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton, New Brunswick. Previously, she was a Professor at the University of British Columbia and an on-site nurse scholar at the Vancouver General Hospital acute medicine unit. She is a research associate of the Atlantic Aboriginal Health Research Foundation and the BC Centre for Disease Control. Dr. Paterson has conducted several funded research studies in the management of chronic illness, including chronic hepatitis C. A feature of many of her research projects is inequities experienced as recipients of health care particularly by marginalized populations. As an international expert in qualitative research methods and in chronic illness, she has been a visiting scholar in more than a dozen universities across the world. She has been the recipient of several national and provincial awards in recognition of her research and her teaching.
