    Biography  Dr. Balfour is currently an assistant professor with the Division of Infectious Diseases, in the faculty of medicine at the University of Ottawa. Dr. Balfour also works as a clinical health psychologist at the The Ottawa Hospital and has an active program of HIV/HCV behavioral medicine research in which she supervisess graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, and medical sudents. Dr. Balfour has conducted several CIHR funded studies in the areas of HIV treatment readiness, adherence interventions, and women's health. Her research interests also include developing and validating brief, easy to use, clinical assessment and educational tools for use in HIV/HCV clinical settings.

    Dr. Balfour has also published studies on Hepatitis C needs assessment (Balfour et al., 2004) and on how cigarette smoking and depression related to quality of life among people living with Hepatitis C (Balfour et al., 2006).
