    Biography  Dr. Qiang Liu is a Scientist at the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization (VIDO), University of Saskatchewan. He is also an adjunct professor in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and the Department of Veterinary Microbiology, University of Saskatchewan.
    Dr. Liu obtained his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Microbiology at the Nankai University, Tianjin, China. He received his Ph.D. degree in Virology at the Justus Liebig University, Giessen, Germany.

    Dr. Liu’s research interest is to study the pathogenic mechanisms of hepatitis C virus. One focus of Dr. Liu’s research is on investigating the molecular mechanisms of steatosis (fatty liver disease) associated with HCV infection. Other research activities include HCV protein translational control and innate immune responses to HCV.
