| Testimony | |
The National Canadian Research Training Program in Hepatitis C has been a fantastic opportunity for me. I have been able to meet and observe hepatitis C patients, which serves as an inspiration for my research in the basic sciences and it gives me a better appreciation for the multi-faceted aspects of this devastating disease. Through annual meetings, journal club, seminars and a special interdisciplinary class I have been able to expand my knowledge and understanding of hepatitis C. The training program has also given me the chance to meet the top researchers in Canada involved in hepatitis C and to have my work critiqued by them, which is a very valuable learning experience. I have also established collaborative relationships with other HCV research labs in Canada. I was able to conduct a two month research project in one lab in another province, using equipment and techniques that I don’t have access to in my home lab. This training program involves a lot of hard work and dedication, but it has helped me develop as a researcher and define my future career path. |
