| Biography | |
Andrew Cumming earned his B.Sc. in Physics from the University of Toronto in 1984 and his Ph.D. in Physics from M.I.T. in 1989. From 1988 to 1990 he completed postdoctoral work at Bell Labs in New Jersey, studying the kinetics of phase transitions in complex fluids with light scattering. He then joined the Faculty at the University of Florida in Gainesville, where he was awarded a 1991 Presidential Young Investigator Award by George H. W. Bush. He is the author of dozens of refereed journal articles in chaos and nonlinear dynamics, and related fields. In 1993, Dr. Cumming returned to his native Canada to run trading businesses in equity derivatives at Citibank, Deutsche Bank and most recently Scotiabank, where he was Managing Director and Head of the Equity Related Products group from 1998 to 2002. He has extensive experience in financial market modeling, trading and risk management. In 2003 he was President of Titanium Corporation, a TSX Venture-listed minerals processing company. He currently leads the Advisory Board of SD Baker & Associates, an alternative investment fund manager. He lives with his wife Hillary and two children in Toronto. |
