    Biography  Dr. Thomas I. Michalak is the Senior Canada Research Chair in Viral Hepatitis / Immunology. He is both the Professor of Molecular Virology and Medicine, and the coordinator of Graduate Programme in Immunology and Infectious Diseases at Memorial University, Newfoundland.

    Dr. Michalak graduated from medical school at the Warsaw Medical University in 1973. He completed his PhD in Immunopathology at the National Institute of Hygiene, Warsaw. Dr. Michalak then completed his clinical Internship from 1980 ¡V 1982. In 1982 ¡V 1985, Dr. Michalak came as a Visiting Scientist to the Department of Pathology and Basic Medical Sciences at the Memorial University, Newfoundland. In 1990, Dr. Michalak became the Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of Liver Studies, King's College of London, UK. He also became the Visiting Investigator in the Department of Molecular and Experimental Medicine at the Scripps Research Institute, La Jolla, CA in 1991.
